ABOUT | Sonya Rumpf

I’ve always been drawn to the questions beneath the surface. How people make decisions, what drives them, and what helps them move forward when things feel unclear.

I grew up in Massachusetts and spent formative years living in Germany and Colombia, including earning my master's degree in Medellin. Living across languages and cultures shaped how I listen, build connection, and understand people whose experiences are different from my own.

My background is in leadership and people development, working in the tech sector and in organizations focused on social impact and financial inclusion. I’ve led large teams, advised executives, and seen firsthand what gets in the way of good decision-making at every level.

For years, I pursued roles where I could demonstrate competence and achieve measurable results. I was good at that work, but I also spent considerable energy managing perceptions and chasing a sense of arrival that never quite came.

What energized me most wasn't just hitting targets, but the conversations that helped people slow down and think clearly. The kind where one question could shift how someone saw a problem and open up a more effective path forward.

It took me time to realize that my empathy and need for meaning weren't obstacles to good leadership. They were what made me effective.

Today, coaching allows me to orient my work around those strengths. I support people as they navigate growth, complexity and important decisions in their careers and lives.

I am less interested in quick answers, and more interested in helping you arrive at clarity that actually holds.
